FALL WINTER 2018

For Fall 2018, Monse decided to produce a film in lieu of the traditional fashion show during New York Fashion Week. What ensued was a fantasia of carnival lights, carousels, and balloons that featured long-time muse, Erin Wasson, with voice-over by Nicki Minaj. Focused less on eveningwear and more on casual and salable, the collection still contained signature "staples", such as blouse-skirt hybrides and twisted satin dresses, but also featured new developments, such as a Monse Crystal Bag, a leather "lunch sack", and a fabric pattern that, at first glance, looks to be old newspaper print.

The short film, produced by Fabien Constant and shot in the iconic Coney Island, was centered around the nostalgia of the amusement park to artfully convey the collection's message. "It's funny how women have changed so much from the Fifties," Laura Kim said. "We wanted to take things from then but make them for today's girls who are working and moving all the time." Messaging was used to create strong female tension. The film focused on the collection's oversized men's blazers, hybrids created from blazers and trenches, a cardigan fused with a blazer, slashed knits, and sexy draped tops.

M IS FOR... MONSE:
INTERNATIONAL VINTAGE

Monse kept momentum for Fall 2018—the clothes hewed more casual and salable, with less eveningwear. The lookbook shots with muse, Erin Wasson, is even in the same style as the pre-collection books: a little bit raw, with an unfurling white seamless in the background.
